The struggling economy, decreased property values, and current budget deficit are all consequences of the shoddy lending practices used by the mortgage industry.  

There is legislation that will help to rein in the mortgage lenders but it will be hotly contested.  The legislation's most difficult hurdle will be the state senate.  So write your state senator and tell them you want them to pass strong legislation that will solve the problem like The Mortgage Lending Reform Act of 2008, AB 1830 (Lieu).
