CALPIRG, along with the federation of state PIRGs, held a video contest asking for entries that highlight the need for Congress to embrace a new vision for federal transportation funding. Click here to watch the winning video. The video stars Dan, a commuter who loves sitting in traffic. It's worth watching. 

CALPIRG continues to work to prevent state budget cuts to public transit services, and to promote new state and local investment in our bus, rail, and subway lines. 

The biggest battle, though, is right around the corner. Our leaders in Congress are starting to write a bill that will dedicate $500 billion of our tax dollars and set the priorities for our national transportation system for most of the next decade. Too much is at stake to allow this bill to happen behind closed doors.

With your help, we'll convince Washington to drastically increase access to clean, efficient public transportation. Doing so will help break our dependence on foreign oil, reduce congestion, and cut global warming pollution.
