CALPIRG Launches TruthAboutCredit.org Project

The average American household carries $10,000 in credit card debt. And college students are graduating with too much credit card debt—close to $4,000 on average. Meanwhile, credit card companies aggressively market their cards to students on college campuses. CALPIRG's campus chapters, along with the rest of the PIRG campus chapters around the country, will be working to put a stop to out-of-control marketing of credit cards to students, and to end anti-consumer practices.  

Students will be working to persuade their universities to sign on to principles to promote responsible marketing. And to educate their peers, students are holding "counter-marketing" events on their campuses, starting with many happening today.
